Chambers Aquatics Launches New Initiative to Combat Drowning Deaths and Childhood Obesity in Dallas

Updated: Jun 13, 2023

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - DALLAS, TX

Dallas, Texas - Chambers Aquatics, a nonprofit organization dedicated to reducing the number of drowning deaths of black and brown children and fighting childhood obesity, has launched a new initiative to address these critical issues in the Dallas community.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, drowning is the leading cause of death for children between the ages of 1 and 4, and black children are three times more likely to drown than white children. Additionally, childhood obesity rates have tripled over the past four decades, with black and Hispanic children being disproportionately affected.

To combat these alarming statistics, Chambers Aquatics has developed a comprehensive program that includes swim lessons, water safety education, and physical activity programs for children in underserved communities throughout Dallas.

"We believe that every child deserves the opportunity to learn how to swim and be safe around water," said Daniel J. Chambers, founder of Chambers Aquatics. "We also believe that physical activity is critical to a child's overall health and well-being. Our new initiative will provide access to these important resources for children who might not otherwise have the opportunity."

The programs will be offered at no cost to families in underserved communities throughout the Dallas, Texas area. Chambers Aquatics is currently seeking donations and volunteers to support this important initiative. To donate, visit out donations page; we appreciate our donors for helping us save the black and brown kids of the world. To volunteer, visit our Volunteer page and submit your inquiry.
